Our people

Practice leadership

Scoglio Law is wholly-owned by our founder and Principal, Tony Scoglio.

Tony oversees the strategic and operational management of our firm, and carefully selects the industry’s best or most promising professional personnel, law clerks, paralegal staff and administrative officers to join our team.

All Scoglio Law professional personnel have been admitted as solicitors under the Supreme Court (Legal Practitioners Admission Rules) 2004. Each holds a practising certificate, renewed annually by the Queensland Law Society.

Tony Scoglio

  • Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland (1993)
  • Solicitor of the High Court of Australia (1993)
  • Bachelor of Laws, Queensland University of Technology (1991)

Skills and Experience

With more than 16 years of experience in commercial law, Tony is a highly skilled litigator and business advisor.

His commercial outlook and keen interest in construction industry dispute resolution stem from early work experience in family-owned and independent building companies. This provided Tony with an appreciation of the risks and opportunities facing construction industry participants, as well as the personal and corporate qualities required to excel in tough contractual environments.

Tony worked with several prominent Brisbane law firms before starting his own practice in 1998.

He currently leads most of Scoglio Law’s litigation and dispute resolution matters and is actively involved in the delivery of all client services.

Skills & Experience

Prior to admission as a solicitor, Frank was employed by a commercial construction company as part of a workforce responsible for delivery of a number of major projects.  This role gave Frank an in-depth understanding of the construction industry and triggered a strong interest into its workings.

Since his admission in the early 1990s, Frank has acted in a broad range of disputes in the building and major projects sector and is experienced in all forms of dispute resolution including litigation, adjudication, mediation, expert determination and arbitration.  Given dispute resolution trends in construction industry in the past 12 years, Frank has developed a specialty in rapid adjudication including making and defending claims as well as making application to the Supreme Court to set aside adjudication decisions.

Frank is also experienced in preparing all forms of project documentation including construction contracts (traditional, D&C and Alliance), subcontracts and consultancy agreements.

Frank also gives project claims advice on the making and resisting of contractual claims.

Frank has acted for a broad range of industry participants including commercial contractors, principals (both public and private), large subcontractors and consultants.

Since being admitted as a solicitor, Frank has worked exclusively in the construction law space, firstly in a boutique firm and then a national firm, before joining Scoglio Law in 2016.
